Surface Equipment Operator

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:

Operate surface mobile equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Position will primarily be performed at the Surface Areas of the Underground Mine, to include but not limited to, the refuse storage area, and the clean and raw coal storage areas. Provide support and labor to the Cardinal Prep Plant as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Actively participate in the company's Behavior Based Safety (STEEL) Process
• Ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, and company laws, regulations and policies
• Perform environmental tasks when assigned
• Safely operate mobile mine equipment - dozer, grader, scraper, excavator, front-end loader and haul truck.
• Job requires manual labor.
• May be required to work out of sight and hearing of others.
• Must be able to climb stairs, steps and/or ladders.
• Must be able to communicate and work effectively with others.
• Other duties/tasks will be assigned as needed.
• Assist with environmental projects when assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GED or training and experience equivalent to high school diploma/GED.
• Five years equipment operation experience required.

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Knowledge of mobile equipment maintenance / repair a plus.
• WV Surface Miner's Certification (desired)
• MSHA 24 hour surface safety training or equivalent
• WV Safety Sensitive Card (required if applicant doesn't have a miner's certification)
• EMT-M certification is a plus
