Resident Engineer - Underground Coal Mining

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:  To provide engineering support regarding design and technical assistance in all aspects of the underground mining operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

1. 1. Preparation and monitoring of short and long range mine plans, including production/coal quality forecasting
   2. Preparation of all State and Federal mine plans, roof control plans, mine ventilation plans/mapping, mine drainage design, mine ventilation system design, mine supply water handling, and rock dust systems
   3. Preparation of accurate and timely volumetric calculations and provide monthly production and royalties
   4. Analyzes labor requirements, equipment needs and operational costs to compute and prepare annual budget reports as well as accurately forecast future performance on a monthly and quarterly basis
   5. Provide accurate and timely reports of mine performance including section performance statistics
   6. Provide cost analysis of projects and prepare AFEs for all mine related capital projects

• Plan and oversee capital projects to ensure timely completion within budgeted costs

• Plan and carry out special projects as required by mine management

• Oversee all aspects of underground surveying, including underground construction surveying

REQUIRED or PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• 4 years minimum experience in relevant field
• B.S. Mining Engineering or Civil Engineering
• Registered WV Professional Engineer Certification Preferred
• Pass Fundamental of Engineering (FE) exam Preferred
• Working knowledge of MS Office and AutoCAD (Carlson)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of underground surveying practices
• Working knowledge of all applicable MSHA and WVMHS&T rules and regulations
