GRADE: Engineer IV


JOB LOCATION: Mountain Laurel Complex - Sharples, WV



OVERALL JOB PURPOSE: To provide engineering support regarding design and technical assistance with all aspects of mining operations.


PRIMARY JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinating with Safety Manager, work with underground employees to ensure safety procedures are adhered to and the BBS program is promoted daily.
  • Assist with all aspects of the mine ventilation engineering, ventilation surveys, ventilation fans and models
  • Provide assistance in the design and construction of mine sealing projects.
  • Maintain environmental and regulatory compliance for all projects.
  • Work with other managers to provide supervision of mine construction and installation projects.
  • Develop progress reports as needed for capital and other projects being conducted.
  • Prepare documents and participate in all associated planning and progress meetings when required.
  • Provide necessary engineering support for all phases of the operation when needed.
  • Develop and assist in continuous improvement processes at the Complex.
  • Work with engineering to optimize mine planning for future coal reserves.
  • Work with all management to develop processes associated with future maintenance and mine operations.
  • Work with Engineering Management in the preparation of design and bid documents for future mining operations.
  • Assist with all training associated with mine engineering plans.


PREFERRED AND REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in mining, civil engineering, or equivalent field (required)
  • 7+ years engineering experience (required)
  • Underground mining and construction experience (required)
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working with underground development (required)
  • Registered Professional Engineer Certification (required)
  • WV Underground Mine Foreman Certification (preferred)
  • Proficiency in underground surveying methods (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, & SurvCAD software (preferred)
