Mining Engineer

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:

Responsible for providing engineering support by providing design and technical assistance regarding all aspects of the mining operation.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Mine site engineering projects (design, permitting, and construction oversight) as assigned, including ventilation, material handling, electrical, and equipment
• Mine ventilation modeling
• Water handling (supply and dewatering), rock dust system, and roof control designs
• Economic evaluations of projects
• Mine planning, including preparing budgets, timing, and reserve calculations
• Familiar with structural steel, concrete, and earthwork calculations and designs
• Interface with mine site, corporate, and government regulatory personnel
• Time study evaluations
• Supervise survey crews
• Plans and permits of mining activities with regulatory agencies

REQUIRED

• Minimum of BS in Engineering (Mining, Electrical, Civil, or Equivalent)

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Underground coal mining experience is a plus
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Work with minimal supervision
• Handle several projects concurrently
• Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and other computer programs
• Experience with AutoCAD, MVS ventilation modeling, or Icamps modeling is a plus
