Director of Process Improvement

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:

Assist and coordinate with mine site management to focus and prioritize safety, economic, and process improvement opportunities, facilitating and driving process management activities to proactively identify, communicate, train, and initiate strategies in support of the company's vision and values.

           

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Assist mine management in the development of Key Mine Drivers that measure the most critical and leveraging elements at the mine
  • Involve areas where top mine management recognizes the best opportunities for economic return
  • Target areas for improvement from the Key Mine Drivers
  • Hold process improvement meetings with supervisory and hourly personnel
  • Work with management to ensure proper communication of goals and plans
  • Coordinate meetings that will include cross-functional personnel such as maintenance, engineering, and operations
  • Meet frequently with department heads
  • Discuss process improvement techniques and opportunities
  • Monitor progress of various goals and plans
  • Attend operational, maintenance, safety, and engineering meetings as needed
    • Stay informed on issues
    • Identify opportunities for improvement
  • Provide department heads with a high level review of the status of Key Mine Drivers
  • Conduct a review of specific goals, targets, and plans to meet mine drivers
  • Share monitoring methods with supervisors and crews on process improvement goals and plans
  • Provide short-term targets and progress to give feedback and identify problems
  • Visually examine and review selected projects and activities

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS Engineering, Accounting, or related technical degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of engineering, operations, or maintenance experience
  • Demonstrated effective Environmental, health & safety performance
  • Familiarity with large-scale CM mine planning and preparation plant facilities
  • Strong leadership and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • PE Certification
  • WV Underground Coal Mining Certification
  • WV Underground Coal Mining Foreman Certification
