Assistant Business Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

 

  1. Interact with field management and corporate reporting to close books each month.
  2. Develop and help implement recommendations to enhance business data needs and/or to streamline various accounting and operational issues.
  3. Serve as a financial resource to the Mountain Laurel Complex to research, analyze and answer questions.
  4. Discounted Cash Flow analysis for capital projects and cost reduction projects; coordinate capital expenditures with AFEs as well as conduct FAS reporting.
  5. Assist in the coordination, development, and presentation of the MTL annual budgets and 5-year plans.
  6. Interact with field management and corporate reporting to close the books each month, making required journal entries, complete variance identifying factors impacting revenues and cost. Review monthly transactions, capital expenditures, correcting any problems.
  7. Responsible for assisting in updating OFA modeling for the budget, plan and Board of Directors (BOD) updates.
  8. Develop comparisons of actual costs to budget and latest budget plans (BOD), and provide explanations for any major differences. This includes analyzing vendor costs, comparing these costs to forecasts, and providing estimates for future forecasts.
  9. Coordinate responses to internal and external audit requests.
  10. As required, this position will assist with royalty, severance and ad valorem and sales tax audits.
  11. Responsible for monitoring, developing and documenting guidelines to ensure compliance with corporate policy pertaining to Sarbanes-Oxley and GAAP reporting requirements.
  12. Communicate to all mine personnel compliance guidelines.
  13. Assist Business Manager and other field or corporate personnel with special projects/assignments, as requested.
  14. Strong interpersonal skills and team-oriented behavior as the position provides critical support to other departments. 
  15. Supervise accounting and payroll personnel and functions.

 

 

 

 

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

 Degree in Business Administration or Accounting - MBA, CPA or CMA preferred.

  1. Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting analysis, including working knowledge of the accounting life cycle and functions such as Accounts Payable, Costing, Inventory, etc.
  2. Minimum 2 years of experience in inventory accounting.
  3. High competency with Microsoft Office applications and experience with accounting and reporting systems.
  4. Proficiency with MIMS/Ellipse and/or Oracle Financial Management a plus.
  5. Previous mining experience also a plus
